What Mendrel Means
A gentle pause in the chaos
Bhutan stands at the crossroads. We carry the weight of a rich cultural heritage while modernity knocks at our doors. The world looks at us through the lens of Gross National Happiness, yet quietly within our own communities, the cracks are showing.
Rising psychosomatic conditions from work pressure, strained relationships, the exhaustion of trying to be everything to everyone — we are witnessing a generation running faster than ever.
Mendrel Retreat stands in the gap: a gentle pause in the chaos, a space to recalibrate, reconnect, and remember what it feels like to simply be.

An auspicious connection
In Bhutanese tradition, Mendrel speaks to an auspicious connection: a coming together of people, moments, and experiences in the right place at the right time.
It reminds us that healing and transformation are not journeys we take alone, but ones that unfold through meaningful relationships, shared presence, and conditions that support our growth.
Mendrel Retreat emerged from the meeting of two souls, two journeys, and a shared vision of healing and wellbeing.
Through our own continued journey of learning, expansion, and self-discovery, we continue to explore diverse practices, wisdom, and healing modalities that deepen our understanding of wellbeing.
Every experience we share is infused with the knowledge, presence, and transformation we have gathered along our own paths. It is an honour to offer these practices as a creative expression of healing and connection, creating spaces where people can return to themselves and discover new ways of being.
We believe that when we heal, reconnect, and live with greater awareness, the ripple effect extends beyond ourselves. It influences how we relate to one another, how we care for the Earth, and how we courageously step into the life we are here to create.
Through Mendrel Retreat, we invite you into a journey of presence, growth, and coming home to yourself.

The merger of two souls
Mendrel Retreat was born from the meeting of two lived experiences and two complementary paths as practitioners. We each have walked our own journey of healing, learning, and self-discovery.
Tshering Zangmo
Sound & Energy Healing
Tshering Zangmo spent her twenties in Australia, a young woman from a small Himalayan kingdom stepping into a vast, unfamiliar world. Those years were not easy; they carried mental, physical, and spiritual struggles that slowly opened her to new ways of healing. She encountered Western energy work, sound healing, and chakra cleansing practices that fell outside what was traditionally taught in Bhutan, yet resonated deeply with what she had always felt but never named.
That encounter changed her. What began as survival became devotion. Over the years that followed, she trained deeply in this work, traveling to India, Bali, and across Australia to learn from teachers and traditions that expanded her understanding. She brings that global perspective home wrapped in Bhutanese roots, offered to her own community, and shared with a new generation ready to explore healing for themselves. Mendrel is her way of returning the gift.

Jigme Wangmo
Yoga & Movement
Jigme Wangmo's journey into yoga is a testament to the power of transformation. Over the past four years, she has immersed herself deeply in the practice of yoga, allowing it to become not just a practice she teaches, but a way of life she embodies.
Before stepping onto the yoga mat, Jigme spent eighteen years climbing the corporate ladder, leading teams, meeting deadlines, chasing targets, and carrying the quiet exhaustion of living on autopilot. At home, she was also a super mom, holding everything together with the same fierce dedication. Then life delivered an unexpected turn: a deep need for her own wellbeing led her to a yoga mat, something she had never imagined for herself.
She did not begin yoga seeking enlightenment; she simply wanted to feel well again. One session at a time, yoga opened a path of healing, bringing her breath, body, and awareness into deeper alignment. Her journey led her to India, where she immersed herself in the study and tradition of yoga, eventually making the courageous decision to leave her corporate career and dedicate herself fully to wellness.
Today, Jigme brings together the strength and leadership cultivated through her years in the corporate world with the compassion, presence, and wisdom nurtured through her yoga journey. Through her practice, she holds space for others to reconnect with themselves and discover their own path of healing and transformation.
Our retreats and wellness experiences are rooted in embodied practice, compassionate guidance, and the belief that true wellbeing grows through connection with ourselves, with one another, and with the natural world.
We hope that every gathering becomes Mendrel: an auspicious meeting that gently opens the door to healing, presence, and transformation.
